2018 MABCA Award Artist
Michael Vaughn Sims

Each year, The Montgomery Area Business Committee for the Arts (MABCA) presents the Business in the Arts Awards to area businesses that have shown exceptional support for the arts. The awards themselves are works of art and this year, Michael Vaughn Sims was selected to create the 2018 awards. Michael is an independent visual artist and theatrical designer who resides in rural Lowndes County, Alabama. He holds an undergraduate degree from Auburn University and a Master of Fine Art degree from Yale University’s School of Drama. During the years he resided in New York City, Sims designed sets and costumes for regional theatres, universities, conservatories and Off-Broadway companies. He has worked in television, film and industrial design, as well as international ballet and opera, receiving many awards for his designs. He has been active in the Montgomery Art Guild, the Prattauga Art Guild and the Watercolor Society of Alabama. His work has been collected by the City of Prattville, the Alabama Historical Commission, Auburn University Montgomery School of Nursing, Jackson Hospital Foundation and numerous private collectors.
